Not Over You

Darling,

They kissed in the end.

“Not Over You”

Dreams, that’s where I have to go
To see your beautiful face anymore
I stare at a picture of you and listen to the radio
Hope, hope there’s a conversation
We both admit we had it good
But until then it’s alienation, I know
That much is understood
And I realize

[Chorus:]
If you ask me how I’m doing
I would say I’m doing just fine
I would lie and say that you’re not on my mind
But I go out and I sit down at a table set for two
And finally I’m forced to face the truth,
No matter what I say I’m not over you, not over you

Damn, damn girl, you do it well
And I thought you were innocent
Took this heart and put it through hell
But still you’re magnificent
I, I’m a boomerang, doesn’t matter how you throw me
I turn around and I’m back in the game
Even better than the old me
But I’m not even close without you

[Chorus:]
If you ask me how I’m doing
I would say I’m doing just fine
I would lie and say that you’re not on my mind
But I go out and I sit down at a table set for two
And finally I’m forced to face the truth,
No matter what I say I’m not over you

And if I had the chance to renew
You know there isn’t a thing I wouldn’t do
I could get back on the right track
But only if you’d be convinced
So until then…

[Chorus:]
If you ask me how I’m doing
I would say I’m doing just fine
I would lie and say that you’re not on my mind
But I go out and I sit down at a table set for two
And finally I’m forced to face the truth,
No matter what I say I’m not over you
Not over you
Not over you
Not over you

Measure a Year of Love

One year ago today, the world tipped and balanced itself again.

Darling swallowed her trepidation and contacted Sir via text messaging.

The paradigm shift happened at exactly 9:25pm local time for Darling on the 17th of September and at 1:25pm on the 18th of September for Sir.

It has been an extremely emotional journey full of sadness, joy, pain, laughter, tears, forgiveness, and immense love – as any great love story should be. The Sir Letters began shortly thereafter.

Sir so succinctly stated to Darling earlier today, “Happy Anniversary Darling.”

A very happy anniversary indeed, Sir. Amen to that.

So to all our readers and fans do us a favour and smile for us today then pay it forward.

Peace and joy –

Love always,

Darling and Sir

Lyrics

How long will I love you
As long as stars are above you
And longer if I can
How long will I need you
As long as the seasons need to
Follow their plan

How long will I be with you
As long as the sea is bound to
Wash up on the sand

How long will I want you
As long as you want me to
And longer by far
How long will I hold you
As long as your father told you
As long as you can

How long will I give to you
As long as I live through you
However long you say

How long will I love you
As long as stars are above you
And longer if I may

How long will I love you
As long as stars are above you

I’ll Be The Greatest Fan Of Your Life

This song says things better than we can. Feel the beautiful, haunting message.

Love,

Darling and Sir

“I’ll Be”

The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath.
And emeralds from mountains thrust towards the sky
Never revealing their depth.
Tell me that we belong together,
Dress it up with the trappings of love.
I’ll be captivated,
I’ll hang from your lips,
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above.

[Chorus:]
I’ll be your crying shoulder,
I’ll be love’s suicide
I’ll be better when I’m older,
I’ll be the greatest fan of your life.

And rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed.
You’re my survival, you’re my living proof.
My love is alive and not dead.
Tell me that we belong together.
Dress it up with the trappings of love.
I’ll be captivated,
I’ll hang from your lips,
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above

[Chorus]

And I’ve dropped out, I’ve burned up, I’ve fought my way back from the dead.
I’ve tuned in, turned on, remembered the things that you said

[Chorus:]
I’ll be your crying shoulder,
I’ll be love’s suicide
I’ll be better when I’m older,
I’ll be the greatest fan of your…
I’ll be your crying shoulder,
I’ll be love’s suicide
I’ll be better when I’m older,
I’ll be the greatest fan of your life.

The greatest fan of your life.
…greatest fan of your life.

Beneath Your Beautiful

Another exquisite song that touches us deeply. We love sharing music with each other and connecting on a deeper level.

Would you let me see beneath your beautiful
Would you let me see beneath your perfect…….

Would you let me see beneath your beautiful tonight?
Tonight, see beneath your beautiful
Oh tonight, we ain’t perfect, we ain’t perfect
Would you let me see beneath your beautiful tonight?

We see beneath your beautiful too.

Love,

Darling and Sir

I’m Not In Love

My Darling,

We have spoken on numerous occasions about the music that has shaped our lives. You know that music performance has been my profession at different points in my career. I say this to stress how in tune (if you’ll pardon the pun) I am with the musical world.

I often hear songs and they make me think of you. It could be because we had listened to them together. Maybe its because they were popular around the time of our courtship. At other times I have known them for years, but when I hear them now they reveal a new relevance or meaning that is more pertinent to our current plight.

There is an old track from 1975 floating around on my music player by the band 10CC titled “I’m Not In Love.” Its an amazing record on a number of levels. Recorded well before the advent of the digital music revolution it features a multi tracked 256 voice faux choir, similar in style to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody (although I think the Queen track only has 64 voices).

The story it tells is of a guy denying his love, even though all of his actions show him clearly very much in love. Now I don’t have to deny that I am in love my Darling, but I do very much have to deny my desire to act on it.

So here it is 10CC’s I’m Not In Love.

You Will Always Be My Darling

From Sir With Love

My Love,

I didn’t think I knew this song, but when I listened to it I realized that I have heard it before – probably on an oldies radio station. I really can’t say, but I did recognize it though.

It’s a beautiful, old song. Your taste in music is so vast; I love it.

I believe the very reason I started this blog site is a testament that I won’t deny loving you either. I wanted to honor you and my love for you through my letters. I also wanted you to have record of my feelings in case anything ever happened to me (no I’m not being dark, just realistic).

My sweet Sir, I am in love so don’t forget it. I’m in love, yes.

Tenderly yours,

Darling

I Know Why

My Dear Love – Sir,

I sent you this song a while back. The song hurt my heart with its beautiful, haunting words and melody. I knew I had to send it to you if you. I wondered if you had heard it before; you informed me you hadn’t.

I closed my eyes, listened to the words of this song, and I let myself remember us – how we were before it all turned upside down. This poignant song makes me ache for you.

There is one thing I do know though; I know why I love you. I just do, because you’re you – you’re my Sir. As the song says, I was afraid of loving you again, but the truth is I never stopped. You have my heart. Please keep it safe.

Shawn Colvin – I Don’t Know Why

Always yours,
Darling

My Loving Darling

You amaze me with the music you pick. Some if it has very quickly made its way it in to my repertoire.  I feel this will be another.

I didn’t really connect with it much the first time you sent it. Let me say that has now changed. I love this song.

It is overwhelming to hear that you love me still and that you feel you never stopped. I know I always carried a torch for you. It is earth shattering to me that I can tell you it now. I never thought I would again have the chance.

As for your heart, well it is safe. I am not prone to making the same mistake twice, especially one of this enormity. I love you my Darling with all my heart.

Thawed

My Sultry Sir,

I’m not sure if you knew this back then, but I love animated children’s movies. Recently I told you that I saw the movie “Frozen.” I loved it.

During the movie, the main character sang a song titled “Let It Go.” I felt it pull me in. I was enchanted. I was mesmerized, and I became weepy. The song touched me, and I felt the words resonate deeply within me on a personal level. The song could have been my mantra for parts of my life during the past 14 years.

Upon returning home, I immediately searched and downloaded the song. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played it. I connect with it.

Your heat is getting to me, Sir, and you make me melt.

Defrostingly yours,

Darling

My Animated Darling

You still have the power to surprise me (if I may use a tautology when I exclaim – “but that shouldn’t surprise me?”) This is the first time I can recall you discussing your affinity with children’s animated films.

I am not familiar with the film and have only recently become acquainted with the song. The composers have pedigree, with one having been involved in two Tony Award winning productions. On my first hearing I felt it sounded like Kate Bush meets Tori Amos meets an old fashioned Broadway musical. I can see why you were drawn to it. Not only is it a powerful song in its own right but the character as originally conceived was a “baddie,” then was gradually re written to become the heroine.

You humble me when you say I make you melt. It still surprises me to hear after my past transgressions. I still shake my head in wonderment at my own actions. Not only how you found me again but how you have forgiven me.  Let it go indeed.

The lyrics differ a bit between the songs. While I love Demi’s cover of the song, I think I prefer the movie performance better with the added lyrics.

Play Me a Song, Piano Man

My Lovely, Lovely Sir,

When I found you online, I also discovered a video of you playing a song on the piano.  It has become my favorite due to the fact that it was the first time I ‘saw’ you again after so many years.

I watched your fingers glide across the keys. I studied your face. I ached to touch your hair where it lay against your neck. I couldn’t look away; I was mesmerized hardly believing it was really you. I felt like I held my breath until you played the last note. I watched it over and over and over. I thought I was going to wear out my speakers or a cruel box would pop up and tell me I’ve viewed the allotted amount of time and I would be cut off.

The world tipped for me that day. I was catapulted back to 1999. I couldn’t even put to words what I was feeling. I was too overwhelmed. I had proof that you were still out there in that great, big world. I just didn’t know what to do about it.

The song haunts me and seduces me. It fills my whole being and makes me tingle, because I know it’s you playing it. It brings tears to my eyes because of the emotions it elicits. I play it continuously. I am completely sweet on you, Sir.

My Melodic Darling

The money that I spent to cut that demo tape and have the video shot was worth every penny. It led you to me. Even though we had not spoken in over fourteen years I still thought that it might help you find me, and lo and behold it did.

I am humbled and flattered that you like it. If only there was a quality song that featured your own home state.

In terms of not knowing what to do about it, well I think you did. Look at us now.

Pianistically Yours
